Christine agrees to sell Woodbine Cottage to Harrison and Fallon. Justin finds out that the Dower House is only in trust to Lilian and that it was originally Matt’s.

Radio Times: There is a knot to unravel at the Dower House, and Harrison presents his offer

Characters: Christine, Harrison, Jill, Justin, Lilian

• Jill bumps into Harrison on the Green. She thinks he did her a favour. She’s had massive publicity for the Happy Friends Cafe. They were really worried if they could keep going but after the interviews they have a lot more volunteers and she has been receiving mail asking her to join all sorts of campaigns. But she might avoid street demos for a while.
• Justin is off to London again. Lilian isn’t happy but at least Justin has got his Decree Nisi in the post. So Lilian is in full wedding mode. She’s thinking of a really special December wedding.
• Harrison arranges a chat with Christine. She tells Jill how horrified she is about being a landlady. She wonders what has gone wrong now. She will be so glad when the sale goes through. Jill admits to Christine that Shula isn’t finding it easy dealing with Oliver. He doesn’t seem to be able to look forward at all. If only there was something they could do to help.
• Lilian provides a nice lunch for Justin and adds a pile of wedding magazines. He doesn’t care, whatever she chooses will be perfect. Lilian thinks Lower Loxley should be the venue. Justin is pleased at least that Miranda is out of their lives which is more than they can say for Matt. Then Lilian reveals that the house is actually in a Trust set up by Matt. Justin is horrified to learn that he is living in a house owned by Matt, even if through a technicality. Justin is less than impressed. She wasn’t that broke after all with a house of over £1m. She insists it isn’t hers. She has to ask the Trustees to do anything major. Justin insists she must sell the property. Lilian thinks it is their home. So Justin says he will have to buy it. The situation can’t continue and that’s final.
• The fete committee is a bit stuck for a town crier. Jill spots Hilda sculking in the hedgerow and they chat about Lily passing her test and Freddie failing. Then Harrison arrives and asks to make an offer on the cottage. Christine is delighted. The cottage is theirs.
