Radio Times: Will’s day takes a turn for the worse.

  • An excited Nic does the final packing for the holiday. Will wants to check the birds before he leaves – and to pick George up early. Nic wasn’t expecting to have George all morning, and it shows.
  • Amy and Alan are feeling bruised from Mabel’s insistence that Alan and Usha shouldn’t be getting married. Alan tries to defend Mabel’s position, but both he and Amy feel that she’s being too hard on Usha.
  • As David finishes strawing down the calves, Ruth drops in to say she’s off to fetch Pip from Izzy’s. Then Pip texts to say that she’s stayed the night at Jonathan’s instead. Davis erupts in fury, and it isn’t helped by Ruth’s pointing out that it’s April Fool’s day.
  • Amy goes in search of Mabel, and tells her how pleased she is that Alan has found someone to share his life. She thinks Mabel’s objections are rooted in the feeling that Catherine’s memory is being betrayed, but Mabel says it’s not that; the only way she could countenance the marriage would be if Usha became a Christian.
  • The children get over-excited, and when George knocks Mia over, Nic lashes out at him – just as Will comes through the door. A huge row erupts, and Will tells her what Ed and Emma have told him. Nic points out that being stuck at Casa Nueva with three children is no fun, and Will accepts that, but still can’t condone her hitting George. A distressed Nic texts Andrew, to take her to her mum’s. She’s leaving. What a good job she has packed their clothes. She won’t stay to be spied on.
