David is trying to plan for Ruth’s birthday. He wants a sophisticated barbecue and sophisticated clothes but she is more interested in a new pair of overalls and a bunch of flowers. In the meantime, Monty has peed on Josh’s Gameboy and Lynda chooses that moment to call about the fete. She’s looking for a big idea. She seems more concerned about that than about the fact that Robert has lost his job.
Brian wants Jennifer at the farm meeting because everything goes more smoothly when she’s there. Jennifer says it only doesn’t go smoothly because Brian provokes Adam. He denies it but he has already decided to rubbish Adam’s plan to help with the strawberry enterprise in the Ukraine but he’s persuaded to think about it. He’s not keen on spending money on advertising the magi-maze either. And he caps it by refusing to discuss Adam’s ideas for the farm.
David has found a trouser and top set he thinks Ruth will like but Jill has to go and buy it for her. She also suggests spatchcock chicken for the barbecue – but she’ll have to help with that too.
