  • The mats for the stables arrive today, but the lorry’s too large to get to the stables and, at a hundredweight each, the hundred mats would be a strain so Phil helps out – and is glad to get away from the miserable Bert for a while.
  • David confronts Bert who seems to think that Harry Roberts was sacked, when David informs him of his misunderstanding – that he resigned when his hours were cut – and that Bert’s got as certain a future at Brookfield as anyone (including themselves) he feels better. David, though, has a visit from Graham, bringing Brian’s offer of buying land, and is furious at Brian, seeing it as him trying to take advantage of the bottom of the market.
  • Ruth’s had a visit from the computer cow dating consultant and thinks it will do the herd good, indeed, she thinks that with her experience she could bring in some valuable short term cash by doing that job too!
  • The cricket club committee; Phil, Bert, Jack and Robert, discuss the matter of captaincy. Phil and Bert are behind Alistair’s candidacy, while Jack and Robert support Sid. They’re arguing it back and forth but can’t agree, but Jack’s got an idea …..
