  • Susan and Jim are looking at the redevelopment of the shop. There is much more space now that they’ve knocked through to the storeroom. They aren’t quite sure what the plan is about that. Susan meanwhile has huge plans for the space – new displays and shop signs etc. Jim is rather more sceptical.
  • Somehow, Debbie and Alice manage to drag Kate out for a ride. They chat about how successful Chris’s business is. Debbie asks what they think about Charlie. Kate says she can’t make him out. She thought they were getting on well at New Year but then he seemed more interested in Adam.
  • Later at the Shop Committee Susan tells Pat and Tom about her plans and to have a wide range of local produce. Pat starts to tell them about the plans for Bridge Farm but Tom firmly stops her. On their own, Pat asks him why. Tom says it’s still only an idea. If they say anything now the shop might stop stocking their produce. Tom says he wants the Farm shop to be a totally different thing for bulk shoppers rather than passing trade and he wants to be able to show them that they aren’t competition.
  • Kate admits to Debbie she enjoyed her ride. Kate tells Debbie how she has messed up her life. Phoebe doesn’t want to spend any time with her and Nollie and Sepo are still against her. She tells Debbie that it was Lucas who had several affairs and she only went out with a man to spite him and one of Lucas’s friends spotted him. Kate tells Debbie she is so lucky not to have children. Debbie says she isn’t. She’d have liked to have children but that ship has sailed. It is what caused the break-up of her last relationship. One day Kate’s children will be proud of her. She even suggests that if Kate does some more work on her business plan, she might even invest herself.
