Radio Times: Emma is feeling frazzled. Meanwhile, Vicky offers advice.

Characters: Ed, Emma, Hayley, Oliver, Phoebe, Vicky

• Hayley finds Vicky smartening up her garden for Britain in Bloom. She is worried about Phoebe going to South Africa, but Vicky has good advice to offer. She thinks Kate feels threatened when she sees what a good mother Hayley is, and that accounts for Kate’s challenging behaviour. Vicky thinks Kate really loves Phoebe, and will look after her, along with Lucas, who will be a good influence on Kate.
• Oliver calls at Grange Farm ostensibly to ask after the sick cow, but succeeds in making Ed feel that he is being checked up on. He is short with Oliver, who quickly leaves.
• Phoebe discusses her birthday party with Hayley, and Hayley quickly realises how grateful Phoebe is for everything. Hayley offers to buy Phoebe a dress she has seen, and is rewarded with a hug. Phoebe tells Hayley she loves her, and when she is away, she will email and Skype all the time. Hayley is touched.
• A weary Ed comes home to find George playing up and Emma exhausted. He quickly sorts George out and offers to cook for everyone. A grateful Emma has a suggestion to make; since Oliver clearly has time on his hands, why not ask him to help with the milking? Ed thinks Oliver will feel Ed can’t cope, but Emma persuades him to see it from Oliver’s point of view; he is fond of Ed and will be happy to help him. With relief in his voice, Ed agrees.
