  • Emma’s cleaning especially thoroughly at Brookfield in readiness for David’s party tomorrow. Ruth’s lets her in on the secret; it’s going to be at Lower Locksley. Emma doesn’t think David suspects as he was disappointed on finding little in the freezer earlier.
  • Jill unveils her unfinished cake to Phil, who’s disparaging. After adding wings and antennae she subjects Ruth to a grilling but hears the same; Ruth’s not keen on eating a creepy-looking black-iced bee-shaped cake. What’s wrong with her classic honey cake? Vicky’s Eiffel Tower spun-sugar has made Jill over-competitive and she agrees to stick to the plain honey cake.
  • Emma’s annoyed that Nicky picked up George from school instead of Will, who suffered a game-keeping emergency. She complains to her mum about the school letting Nicky take George. The school says Will previously explained his relationship with Nicky, who they already knew because of her children. Susan tells her she’s lucky that George has so many people to love him, giving her lots of extra help.
  • Later, Ed agrees with Susan. Emma broaches the idea of a sibling for George but then turns the conversation to Brian. Ed did phone him for news and heard Brian’s cautiously optimistic about the board meeting next week.
