Family members offer Ruth and David advice. Ed offers David support plus fish and chips.

Radio Times: Kenton offers support, and Adam reaches a decision.

Characters: , , , ,
  • As Kenton drives Ruth to Prudhoe, he tries to cheer her up with his ideas for the community games, and ways to avoid Lynda. Ruth tells him that she wishes she could find a way of not taking the bait every time they get a threatening phone call. Kenton points out that the caller probably had no idea where they children were; it was a bluff. She thinks Kenton could be right.
  • David is short on the phone with Adam, but later tells him about the children and the latest threat. Adam insists he should put the children’s safety first. No-one will blame him for refusing to give evidence, and he should support Ruth. At first David stands firm, but later admits Adam could be right.
  • A call from Ed initially sends David into panic, but it is only to say that he will call round to tell David about the badger vaccination course. When he arrives, he brings fish and chips, to David’s delight. Ed really enjoyed the course, and tells David that he will be staying at Brookfield. David and Ruth have been great to him and Emma, so it is the least he can do. David is very touched.
  • Without mentioning names, Kenton tells Ruth about Kathy’s initial fear of giving evidence in the rape trial, but how she eventually wished she had spoken up earlier. Maybe David should consider that.
