Helen begins to let her guard down with Kirsty after Rob refuses to let Helen be there when Rob shows Pat and Tony the scan.

Radio Times: Susan is in a selfless mood, and two old friends have a long overdue catch-up.

Characters: Helen, Kirsty, Lynda, Rob, Susan

• Helen and Rob are going for the first scan. Rob is over-excited, Helen is less so and keeps insisting that he shows no one the picture. Then Rob insists on going to Bridge Farm on his own with Henry, refusing to let her see how the building work is going on. Then he tries to force her into buying maternity clothes although she says it’s way too soon.
• Helen bumps into Kirsty in Underwoods. They are pleased to see each other. Kirsty says congratulations but Helen is clearly less than thrilled. They make tentative plans to meet up.
• Lynda apologises to Susan for offering her the part of Lady Cravenshire with coffee and cake. Lynda pretends she accepts Susan’s statement that she doesn’t want to be involved. But then the wind up to offering her the part of Chris against Elizabeth’s Annie begins. Susan “reluctantly” has her arm twisted.
• Even after the scan, Rob says he wants to go back to Bridge Farm and Helen wants to go too. Rob refuses to let her. He also pretends he’s more excited about the baby than Helen and refuses to let her be there when he shows Pat and Tony the scan.
• Later, Kirsty and Helen meet up. Helen says she is relieved. Kirsty loves the photo. Helen explains Rob wants a boy though Kirsty thinks he will be as happy with a girl. Helen tells Kirsty that Rob can be overprotective and then bursts into tears. Kirsty asks what wrong and Helen says rather doubtfully that everything will be okay, won’t it?
