Helen helps Tom out. Neil helps Christopher out. Susan might be able to help Ruth out.

Radio Times: Susan tries a different tactic.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • At last Tom has a letter about the accident; he can either go to court and get a fine and penalty points, or pay £150 for a driving course.
  • Still determined to establish Christopher in the ranks of the wealthy, Susan cooks Neil a special breakfast in the hope of persuading him to fund the skiing holiday. But she’s wasting her time – Neil’s already decided he’ll help with the cost, because Christopher has acted so sensibly over it. Susan rushes to text the good news to Christopher.
  • Pat takes some yoghurt to the shop, as Helen forgot. She finds Helen in negative mood. She’s got to wait for a counselling session, and isn’t sure acupuncture will be any use. But she does offer to pay for Tom’s driving course.
  • In the village shop, Susan bores everyone with her boasting about Christopher and Venetia. Ruth has other things on her mind – Freda has given her notice as Brookfield’s cleaning lady. When Ruth has gone, Susan wonders whether Emma might like the job.
  • To Pat and Tony’s delight, Helen arrives home full of praise for the acupuncturist. She’s phones Tom to say she’ll pay for his course, and she agrees to stay for lunch. Later, Pat tells Tony she doesn’t want to go away; she needs to keep an eye on Helen.
  • Susan can’t wait to tell Neil that she’s found a job for Emma. With his usual caution, Neil advises her to slow down. Freda might change her mind yet.
