  • Emma’s in positive mood as she and Ed look at the Texels. Maybe things are looking up, with her extra work and the sheep. Since Susan is having the children this afternoon, maybe Emma and Ed could go and look for somewhere to rent.
  • In less positive mood, Joe bewails storm damage at Elf World, where much of the stock has been ruined. At least Bartleby is safe. As Eddie brushes water off a tarpaulin, he manages to soak Joe, who spends the rest of the day moaning about his Farmer’s Lung and general miseries.
  • Anna does her best to get Helen to give her some information about Rob, but receives a great deal of rudeness and intransigence in return. Helen claims that she prefers to tell Kaz, which is unlikely to do much to help present a strong defence in court. Whenever Anna tries to pin her down, Helen ‘can’t remember’ or needs to check on Jack. Finally Anna tries her last ploy; she has jess’s number and wants to talk to her. Helen can only say that Jess is a liar – look what she told Rob about Ethan’s parentage. She orders Anna out, but Anna is not to be so easily put off.
  • Ed and Emma view a property 20 miles away. It is far too small and the children would have to change schools. Ed says flatly that it won’t work; Emma wants to know what the alternative is, other than moving back to Ambridge View.
  • Perhaps dealing with Helen’s aggression and unwillingness to do anything to help herself has strengthened Anna’s resolve. Far from being put off by a similar response from Jess, Anna pushes Jess into agreeing to see her. Jess will think about it.
  • Ed and Emma tell Eddie and Joe about the flat, and do their best to raise Joe’s spirits, but more damp patches have appeared and he is suffering the after-effects of his soaking. A power cut is the final straw. It’s judgment on us all, wails Joe, it’s the end of days and there is nothing we can do to stop it.
