Helen’s meeting with Rob’s psychologist causes her to reflect on Rob’s deeper impact on Henry.
Radio Times: Lilian has an unwanted phone call, and Brian badgers Adam.
Characters: Adam, Brian, David, Helen, Jack, Lilian, Pip, Rob- Helen is dropping off Lilian’s cheese order and fills her in on the meeting with Rob’s psychologist. Helen found the meeting useful and the focus was definitely on Rob’s mental state, rather than her own. Moreover, the psychologist is concerned about Rob’s impact on the children. In spite of supervised contact now with Tony, Helen is worried the damage is already done, during his unfettered access to Henry while she was in prison. Helen looks back and pieces together some events.
- There is a farm walk followed by demonstration on herbal lays and mob grazing on Saturday and David and Adam discuss the agenda for the day. A flustered Brian finally tracks down Adam and expresses his annoyance over Rob’s remarks and the state of the wheat on the Whiteacre land. Adam defends the crop, the soil and the fact that everyone is having a bad year. He reminds Brian of the transition period, teething problems with no-till and that these things take time while fertility is built up. With the impending restriction on the systemic herbicide glyphosate, Brian panics further and Adam reminds him that the restriction will affect all farmers, not just them.
- Having learned from Adam that Pip is due to speak at the farm walk, David asks Pip why she was so shy about mentioning it. He would like to come and hear what she has to say. She is vague and deflects David’s questions about Toby and his business ventures.
- Rob contacts Lilian about one of her property lets and is most insistent about its suitability for his needs. He would like a viewing and Lilian is left speechless.
