Helen takes Annette under her wing.
Radio Times: The mystery is solved for Helen.
Characters: Annette, David, Eddie, Helen, Jill, Nic, Ruth, William- Will is cross with his father for the stunt he pulled last night – keeping Nic in a pub all evening on orange juice; he is also very scathing about what they were celebrating. When they meet Eddie in The Bull, Will is not slow to make both points: Ed will fail and when he does, he (Will) will have to pick up the pieces.
- Completely taken in by Annette’s story, Helen has bought her a rail ticket and taken her to the station. Annette cannot pretend any longer: she has not phoned her gran. There is no point because after what her mother will have told her, gran will not want to see her. Now she must tell Helen all.
- Meanwhile, at Brookfield, Jill is advising on which old NFU colleagues to invite to Phil’s birthday party – and which not to!
- Annette has had a bad time with her mum, who turned to drink, drugs and men. Her latest made her choose between the kids and him; she chose him. Sonia is ok, living with her boyfriend, and Sonia gave her the fare to come to England. The cards and letters Helen had sent were rays of hope, glimpses of another world. So she was hoping to stay with Helen for a few weeks, to get on her feet; now she feels she has spoilt any chance of that. Not so – Helen suggests that they head back to Ambridge; they will work something out.
