Radio Times: It is a happy day for Lynda, and Helen throws down the gauntlet.

  • Lynda has been given an early edition of Alice in Wonderland for her birthday. Robert has told her to keep the rest of the afternoon free; she has no idea why but wonders if the book has something to do with it. She tries to encourage Pat to join the committee but she won’t be pressed. Then Leonie suddenly appears in the shop.
  • Lilian is impressed with Fallon’s arrangements but she is running out of time. Fallon leaves Lilian to sort out the croquet game – she’ll be Queen of Hearts. When Lynda arrives she is very impressed, stepping into the garden was like stepping into Wonderland.
  • Tony is still in a tantrum about everything. Pat tries to calm him down but doesn’t get anywhere. He doesn’t care at all about Peggy’s hurt feelings. Maurice has sorted out the stock issue for the sausages. But it’s not great PR. Tony tries to be reasonable about restocking with the pigs but can’t control himself. He does point out that they can’t keep non organic stock on the farm for more than 140 days. That rather surprises Helen but once Pat says they could keep them on a totally separate bit of land she talks about thinking outside the box which starts Tony on a rant about Rob. Helen suggests taking advice from “someone less involved” at which point Tony says why would they take advice from someone who runs a mega dairy. They don’t even know him. Helen drops in how much Rob helped Tom get the job. It doesn’t seem to impress Pat and Tony very much and they are even less impressed when she says they are engaged. Funnily enough, they don’t leap in with the congratulations.
  • Lynda takes the opportunity of the party to give Leonie a llama wool blanket for the baby and she is very impressed. Lilian’s nose is clearly put out of joint. She says she has a homemade surprise for Leonie too. But it’s not quite finished yet. Then Leonie blurts out that the baby is a boy. Lynda becomes rather emotional. It’s been such a wonderful day.
