  • Lilian has been cooking for the anniversary dinner via the caterers. Just to support local business, of course. She felt she had to take pity on them given the state of the kitchen. Matt doesn’t mind. He’d like a little chat with Brian.
  • The kitchen at Home Farm is full of water. The builders have messed up again. Brian isn’t impressed. Shula calls in to remind them about the meeting but Jennifer can’t go. Shula isn’t impressed. They wanted a full house (though why an initial meeting to form a committee is so important, who knows). Jennifer promises she’ll help with publicity and media relations.
  • David now agrees that the sheep scratching is a problem. It might be scab. Ruth wonders where it could have come from because they haven’t had it in the herd for years and then she remembers the rescue flock. They’ll have to get Alistair in to have a look. They tell Shula that they’ve been doing the sums based on a worst case and they might have to get out of milk altogether if the road goes through. That’s why it is so important that the Open Day goes well. Shula suggests handing out flyers at the school and at The Stables.
  • Brian moans to Lilian and Matt about the kitchen and then is even less impressed when Jennifer returns from taking a phone call from the builders. Buddy has fallen off a roof and will be out of action for a while. Jennifer also admits that she is feeling guilty for missing the village meeting. But both Brian and Jennifer deny to Matt that they know anything the plans for the new road.
  • The village meeting went well. Shula is chairing the committee. Though Ruth notes that the Estate and Home Farm were absent. But then David finds out that the mega dairy is also holding an Open Farm Sunday. They aren’t impressed. Rob tells David it wasn’t his idea, it was another plan from Charlie. Ruth says they’ll have to make their Open Day the best ever and David says it might be the last ever.
