Ian expresses a surprising interest in cricket. Charlie expresses concerns over Berrow farm.
Radio Times: Ian gets an interesting offer, and Charlie faces a conundrum.
Characters: Adam, Brian, Caroline, Charlie, Ian, Shula- Caroline shows an envious Shula and Ian a picture of the Tuscan villa she and Oliver are renting. Shula tells her about the opera coming to Lower Loxley; Caroline is keen to go. Alistair is off to Lulworth for a dinner in the mess with Dan, who is on an artillery course. It will be good for them have time together, says Shula.
- Charlie asks Adam if he will come for a drink when he has finished combining, but Adam needs to take the combine over to Brookfield and then he has agreed to spend the evening with Ian. Charlie has spare tickets for the Test match at Edgbaston; would Adam like to come and bring Ian? Hastily Adam says cricket is not Ian’s thing, but he will ask him. Brian arrives. Ruairidh has friends for a sleepover, so Brian is staying clear of Home Farm. He will keep Charlie company at The Bull.
- As Adam manoeuvres the combine, Ian rings. Adam passes on Charlie’s invitation for a drink, but Ian says there is a bottle of Chablis in the fridge. Adam opts for staying in, but seems taken aback when Ian says he would like to come to Edgbaston. Charlie seems equally taken aback when Adam relays the news.
- Over a drink, Brian and Charlie discuss Berrow Farm. Charlie has concerns about the figures; something is amiss financially but he is unable to put a finger on it. Brian is sworn to secrecy.
