Radio Times: It’s the morning after.

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • The weekend dawns and, with Usha away visiting Auntie Satya, Richard wakes in Glebe Cottage. They have no regrets, nor any doubts that the next few weeks will be painful and messy. Shula’s guilt kicks in fairly swiftly, both professionally (he’s her doctor), socially (Usha’s her friend) and theologically (their actions going against every belief she’s ever held dear). He creeps out, hoping to avoid the glances of the early morning dog walkers, and she bursts into flood of recriminatory tears.
  • Jack’s still a little worried about who will run Grey Gables during the party but is happy to write the expense of the occasion off as an “investment in people”.
  • Phil’s getting a little tired of David trying to teach him his trade as they’re getting on with harvesting.
  • Richard’s (unsurprisingly) off his game, and considering retirement, as the cricket team loose again.
  • Jack and Peggy are celebrating his 79th birthday with supper at Brookfield. Shula’s very weary and David’s absent due to cricket, but it’s fun for all until David returns in a foul temper. The fan cooling and drying the wheat had been turned off because it was a little loud for some of the B&B guests, this was exactly the thing he and Phil had been discussing earlier and David’s off to turn it back on again – it’s a working farm and the guests can lump it!
