He will ruin her life. It turns out Celia is his ex-wife and they have children together. He insists he has responsibility for her – they made vows to each other. He isn’t going to let this marriage happen. She finally throws him out but Paul says they will talk about it again when she’s had time to think about what he’s said.

  • Roy tells Chris it really is time he brings it up with Alice. They need to talk. He puts it down to Alice being an Aldridge. They expect everything to be served up to them on a plate. Chris makes excuses for her and says he couldn’t imagine having to do a job he hated and that’s where Alice is coming from. He’d hate to walk away from his business when it is doing so well. The trouble is, they can’t both have what they want. Christopher says they’ve had their bad times before but this time they aren’t even talking. Roy says that’s bound to happen after a while but as long as they love each other they will work things out. Roy says he can see it would be a great adventure. And Alice will be earning enough for him to live the life of Riley. But Christopher says doing nothing wouldn’t be for him. He loves his business and he doesn’t walk away. Roy suggests looking for someone to mind the business while he was away for a few years but Chris doesn’t think he could trust someone enough.
  • Tony tells Peggy how tricky things are. He is beginning to accept that Tom’s proposals are the right commercial decision but Pat won’t even consider it. Peggy says she is impressed with Tom’s common sense and since Helen agrees with him then Pat and Tony should listen carefully.
