Radio Times: Emma makes a breakthrough and Rex cements his new venture

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Rex and Jazzer are moving Neil’s pig to Hollowtree. Jazzer is entertaining Rex with descriptions of his latest female conquests but Rex is fretting about his abilities to care for the pigs and show a profit. They see Dan on his run. Jazzer is worried about the shifting pigs in the back and he pulls over to change things. They are blocking the road and Brian leans on his horn. He is on his way to a meeting and the pigs are holding him up.
  • Will, Clarrie and Eddie discuss going over to the cottage to see how things are. Will plans to take his tool box in case anything needs to be fixed. Brian’s agreement with Will for working part time is helping him. Clarrie suggests that Will clear the air with Emma but Will notes he isn’t worried about her.
  • Jazzer approves the new arrangement for the pigs and asks for 4 pints in The Bull in return for his help. Rex has a good feeling about the pig business; he thinks he is picking it up and the operation will be a success. Jazzer, on the other hand, is only interested in gossip about how Jim’s piano teacher is in love with Jim but he is oblivious. Later at The Bull, Brian has a pint with Eddie. Rex comes in and offers to buy a drink for Brian in apology for holding him up on the road earlier. Brian graciously answers he wouldn’t dream of it and puts £20 behind the bar to toast Rex’s new enterprise. The movement of the pigs went well, declares Rex, but he then receives an emergency call from Jazzer.
  • At Will’s cottage, Eddie notes it needs airing. Will doesn’t know where to start; Eddie offers Clarrie’s efforts to bag up Nic’s things. Will is reluctant to do it just yet. Nic is still everywhere in the home, says Will. He isn’t ready to open the post but he decides that the family should move back and make it a proper family home again. Then Jake will want to move back home. Will is positive he will manage.
  • Clarrie is preparing the family meal and Emma is converting Keira’s Easter bunny ears into cat’s ears for a party that Poppy is attending. Keira didn’t mind because she said Poppy doesn’t have a mummy anymore. Will returns and Emma leaves to round up the kids and wash their hands for the meal. Will tells Clarrie that he is ready to move back home. Clarrie feels as Eddie does and worries it might be too much for Will now. Will notes it is nice of Emma to convert the ears for Poppy and Clarrie gently prods Will to speak to Emma.
  • Will catches Emma after putting the girls to bed. Will thanks her for making the cat’s ears for Poppy. He apologises for what he said to Emma and he admits that Emma was a good friend to Nic. They discuss Jake; Emma thinks he is better off with his father but Will is certain Jake will want to come back once they move to his home. As Will and Emma say good night, Will thanks Emma for all she has done and it is clear they have mended the bad feelings.
