Radio Times: Pat is on a mission and Clarrie attempts to keep the peace

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Clarrie and Pat talk about the kids and how Will is spoiling them. Clarrie asks about Olwen and is shocked to find that Olwen is homeless. Clarrie tells Pat what she and Eddie did when they tried to find Ed when he disappeared. Her advice is that if Olwen doesn’t want to be found, she’ll stay in the shadows.
  • Dan is looking for Alistair’s chequebook when he finds a picture album. He notes they were playing at happy families but Shula reminds him they were happy. Dan talks about his difficulties in understanding the separation. Dan asks if Shula is sorry for the way she treated Alistair. Shula admits she is and Dan urges her to tell Alistair so they can all move on.
  • Harrison and Fallon discuss the finer points of financial responsibilities. Fallon resists this and they both recognize their different approaches. Emma complains about the atmosphere at home with Will and the upsets among the children.
  • Harrison is buying a chicken and leek pie from Pat but suddenly changes his mind to two steaks. He can be extravagant as well as Fallon. Pat takes the opportunity to ask about finding Olwen. Harrison asks a few questions and tells Pat that she must go into the station and report Olwen as missing. Pat is taken aback but seems to consider it. Later at home, Fallon and Harrison are eating their expensive steak and chips with an excellent Rioja. He laughs that he is up for adventure but he wants them to be secure as well. It isn’t about money but it is about Harrison and Fallon as a couple.
  • Clarrie insists that Emma relax a bit when she gets home. They discuss William and Emma thinks Jake should stay with his dad. Clarrie isn’t sure but she is worried about everyone. Emma confides she is upset when Will said he would never forgive Emma if Jake never returns home because of what she said to him.
  • Dan is very upset and wants Shula to explain exactly what Alistair has done. Shula claims it is not Alistair’s fault but it doesn’t exactly make sense to Shula either. What will she have left when the divorce is final? Her faith, her family, her home in Ambridge, answers Shula. That is not enough, cries Dan. Shula hates that she has hurt Alistair and Dan but she insists it is the right decision. It has to be.
