Jill saves the day at Brookfield. Roy saves a pig on the Felpersham Road. Will Peggy save Tom from financial ruin?

Radio Times: Jill comes to the rescue. Meanwhile, Roy and Tom discuss money matters.

  • One of Tom’s sows has got out onto the Felpersham Road. Roy spots it and rings Tom. Together, and with the aid of pig-nuts, they manage to get her into the trailer. Tom manages to fit in a snipe about Tony’s failure to repair the gap through which she escaped.
  • Jill is at Brookfield, where Ruth is again too busy to feed the family. Jill sends Ruth for a bath while she makes cottage pie. She has already given Ben his tea, but the pie smells so good that Ben feels hungry again. They all appreciate Jill’s cooking (and an evening off from Ruth’s Chili). David is so busy that he has to speak through every mouthful, of course. Oddly he is able to take Sunday off when he and Ruth are going to take Pip out to lunch and deliver her tablet. Maybe Jill would like to come? ‘Perhaps’ is all she will say. Afterwards Jill offers to wash up. She has nothing else to do.
  • As Tom buys Roy a pint to say thank you, he admits he will not have the money for a stag night. Weddings are so very expensive; he will be spending £20,000. Even dresses can cost up to £1000. Little does Tom know. Roy suggests asking Pat and Tony to help; no, relationships are too strained, says Tom, on account of Peggy’s will. In that case maybe Tom should ask Peggy. What a good idea.
  • Ruth falls asleep so Jill takes coffee out to David in the lambing shed. He is too busy to run her home, so Jill says she will walk. That is out of the question, so David suggests she should stay over in Pip’s room. Jill accepts gladly.
