Radio Times: Bert is rebuilding and Jill takes a call.

  • David is having a problem with one of the calving cows. It’s the first problem though. Bert is getting on well with the new egg mobile. He’s not sure why he’s bothering though – the boys have lost interest now the caravan is attracting so much publicity.
  • Helen’s solicitor goes to visit Bridge Farm. Pat asks if Henry can visit Helen but he can’t promise that he will be allowed to visit. At least they have her prisoner number now. Dominic explains that if Helen does get bail, she won’t be allowed to come back to Borsetshire at all, let alone Ambridge. He says her mental health will be a factor but he can’t give her any more information. In the days leading up to the event, she’d been very on edge but she had no idea that things were going wrong. There must have been something that they didn’t know about. She must have felt threatened or that Henry felt threatened. Pat insists she wouldn’t commit another offence and Dominic agrees but there is also the risk of witness tampering. Plus the prosecution can only go on the basis of the assault on Rob. They are just beginning to talk about barristers when Jill appears. She has contacted Carole and her daughter is a criminal barrister well known for acting in cases involving women’s issues and she’d be very happy to help.
  • Jill visits Bert with some gifts of plants. Rex has been helping Bert with the garden. He’s fine as a house guest too but can’t say the same of Toby.
  • Elizabeth is practising her faces for when she doesn’t win Borsetshire Business Woman of the Year. She’s looking forward to the lunch but she knows she won’t win. Pat and Peggy have had to pull out of course. But they’ve invited Emma and Richard Locke instead. Emma is thrilled. Jill says she doesn’t know what she can do to help. All she can think of is casseroles. David asks what Elizabeth wants for her birthday. Jill suggests a sit down meal at Lower Loxley, catered by Emma and Fallon.
