Jim has a flood. Shula has words with Usha and Alan. James has concerns over his mother’s finances.
Radio Times: The prodigal returns to Home Farm.
Characters: Alan, James, Jim, Lilian, Shula, Usha- Jim’s washing machine has flooded the kitchen, so he rings Shula to demand that she come and mop up.
- Lilian is greatly cheered by James’ arrival. He’s booked in at Grey Gables until the end of the week, and loses no time in taking her to lunch, which Lilian greatly enjoys.
- Alan and Usha agree to draw a line under the Blossom Hill Cottage row. It upset them both. Alan thinks they should go camping. Usha is less enthusiastic.
- Lilian tells James about the motorway incident with Matt. James isn’t much interested in his mother’s emotional problems, but is very keen to know about Matt’s financial ones.
- Shula tries to mop up Jim’s flood, but with very bad grace. Alan and Usha appear, to see how Jim is settling in, which is a wonderful opportunity for Shula to be decidedly frosty with Usha, telling her it’s her responsibility to mend the machine. Jim is delighted to see them, however.
- Alan takes Jim to Bingo at The Laurels, on his motorbike, and drops him at the stables. Shula’s frostiness increases by the minute, firstly when the bike spooks a horse, and secondly when Jim announces that he’s come to see Daniel.
