  • Cordon bleu is definitely off this week at Keeper’s Cottage: Clarrie is so busy baking for the Fayre that she cannot manage more than egg and chips. Eddie has had another turkey cancellation; he reckons that customers are banking on the price coming down because the Grundys are desperate to sell them. Joe has a cunning plan to provide stuffing with the turkeys – but who is to make it. Not Clarrie! Joe thinks they should involve Fallon or Nic.
  • At Brookfield, Ruth is preparing for the arrival of Shula, Alistair and their problem guest, Alistair’s father Jim.
  • Eddie has phoned Nic – at William’s – who might help but then William asked how much they were going to pay her; this is not in Joe’s plan, since she is ‘family’ now. So it is down to Joe and Eddie, who haven’t a clue how to make stuffing but do know how to make short-cuts.
  • Jim is interested in David’s beef strategy and in the upturn in the dairy industry. Tonight’s beef went down well. Jim is also interested in Nigel’s new Shire horse and the uses to which it can be put; an expedition to Lower Loxley is called for, which surprises Alistair, since his father has hitherto never shown the slightest interest in horses. He is also impressed with the bio-fuel plan; people who do something about the planet are an inspiration.
