Justin Elliott’s offer is about to become a real hot potato.

Radio Times: Ed comes to the rescue once more, and Neil faces a dilemma.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Neil and Ed discuss some of the negative, often rude responses to Justin Elliott’s plans for the village hall, left on the Parish Council website. Neil needs to discuss matters with Oliver urgently. At Brookfield, David leaves Pip to supervise calving while he goes to the bank to transfer Kenton’s funds.
  • At Grey Gables, Ed finds Oliver overseeing the packing of some of his more valuable items for storage while he’s away. Oliver’s invitation to a party on Friday has to be turned down as it’s Joe’s birthday bash at The Bull. As he leaves, Ed receives a call from Pip. She needs help with a tricky calving and she’s on her own.
  • At Brookfield, Ed discovers a posterior presentation, with both feet showing. With ropes attached and a good deal of heaving, a heifer is born. Pip rubs it down with straw to get it breathing and all is well. Congratulations all round.
  • Neil meets Kenton sweeping leaves at The Bull. It’s good to see the houses round the green coming back to life. Neil and Susan have donated clothes for the church’s refugee appeal and they ponder the effect that the situation is having on the children there. On a lighter note, Neil and Susan may just accept Kenton’s invitation to the rugby screening on Friday.
  • At The Bull, Neil and Oliver discuss Justin Elliott’s offer. Apparently the public mood is turning against the proposal, but there are those who feel that it’s very generous. Ed turns up to celebrate the birth and to sing Pip’s praises. Oliver extends Ed’s invitation to the party on Friday, to the whole of the Grundy family, much to Kenton’s annoyance as it takes trade from the pub. For what it’s worth, Kenton feels that they should grab Justin’s cash with both hands, after all no one has to like him, just the free cash!
