Kenton learns Alistair helped Ryan leave the bookies.
Radio Times: Kenton holds Alistair to account.
Characters: Alistair, Annabelle, Kenton, Ruth, Ryan, Usha- Alistair’s just finished at Brookfield, hoping for the afternoon off. Ryan rings; he’s in the bookies with his last £50 of dole money and can’t leave. Alistair goes there, gets him out, and talks to him in the pub before Ryan heads home.
- But Kenton saw Alistair leaving the bookies and has been trying to phone him. He’s busted, says Kenton, and Alistair has to explain about Ryan and the call for help. Kenton’s unimpressed. Alistair’s only recently kicked the habit and Ryan could drag him back to gambling. Kenton won’t see that happen to Shula. There’s no need to worry, insists Alistair.
- Usha and Annabelle meet for their joint run. It starts friendly enough, but neither’s keen to be the first to call it a day and it stretches to a long 10-12 mile run. Once home, and feeling worse for wear, Usha tells Ruth that she’s going to beat Annabelle in the marathon if it kills her.
