  • With a long summer holiday ahead of him, Josh is already bored. Ruth suggests helping on the farm, but that doesn’t suit him.
  • Scarecrow making is the order of the day, and Lynda tells Fallon all about the willow wand Bo Peep. Fallon does her best to be polite, but finds Lynda’s idea difficult to enthuse over.
  • A cheerful Harry thanks Fallon for her advice about The Trout at Waterley Cross. He and Zofia had a great time, and tonight they are coming to The Bull to play Boules. Once again, Fallon finds it hard to sound enthusiastic.
  • Kirsty comes across Josh skimming stones on the Am. She tells him about the wild life survey she is doing, and after a while, Josh begins to sound interested.
  • Kirsty calls at The Bull and does her best to persuade Fallon to come out with her, but Fallon is feeling decidedly jaded and antisocial. Kirsty suggests taking Harry and Zofia on at Boules, but it is only when Fallon becomes quite angry that Kirsty realises the cause of the problem: Harry. At first Fallon denies having any feelings for him, but then admits that she has. But it’s too late now. She has missed her chance.
