  • Lilian and Justin are out riding. Partly to see about him buying horses but also to give Lilian very tedious advice to her property portfolio. He offers to let her send him the details and will get his staff to look over it. After some reluctance, Lilian is delighted. Justin is clearly flirting. They are a rare combination. She obviously loves country life. And what Amside is doing is a part of keeping a community together. Justin admires her for her wisdom and spirit.
  • Rex is furious with Toby. What is he up to? Toby claims the £500 has sorted it. Rex doesn’t believe him. But Toby insists it is sorted but won’t give him any more information – unless Rex wants another argument about Brighton. Rex is being paid for some work around Brookfield simply to get a few pounds to pay the bills. And he is obviously upset that Pip has been away with Matthew.
  • Charlie turns up at Home Farm and offers to help Adam. He wants to pass on the message that the feed wagon will have to go to auction. He also doesn’t want to leave on bad terms with Home Farm and Adam says that isn’t so. He helps out with fixing a gate and asks if he can help more. Adam says no. He is late for lunch with … someone. So Charlie leaves.
  • Toby still tries to convince Rex that free range eggs are the way to go. Rex isn’t convinced. How will they protect hens against foxes? Electric netting is Toby’s solution but Rex still doesn’t think it will work. Toby says they need to talk to Pip about solutions. Women make bad choices sometimes but that doesn’t mean they don’t know about predator proofing.
