Lilian gets no further in persuading Matt to go home.

Radio Times: Bonfire night keeps its sparkle for Vicky.

Characters: Jennifer, Lilian, Matt, Mike, Neil, Susan, Vicky

• Vicky’s guy is set up to look just like Mike. Helped by all his clothes being included. The bonfire is going well. But Mike is taking the opportunity to look for Brian – Ed still hasn’t had the agreement to the extra land yet.
• Susan is fed up that Annette is looking for another job, even though she understands. Neil and Susan are trying to think about ways to keep the shop open but not many ideas. She’s absolutely determined to be on the committee.
• Lilian and Matt continue to fight about whether to go home. He simply isn’t prepared to go to prison despite anything Russell says. She rings Jennifer just to hear a friendly voice and while she doesn’t actually say anything, Jennifer senses something is wrong.
• When the row has quietened down Matt and Lilian have serious talk. She knows he is scared but at least after prison his life will be free. It will never be free in Costa Rica. He’ll have lost everything that makes him the person he is. But Matt thinks he is too old to change. He wishes he had the guts but he doesn’t. He can never go back.
