Radio Times: Jazzer finds the perks of the job.

  • Alan calls to thank Jennifer for her contribution to the window appeal, and commiserates over the 60s clothes mix up. Jennifer says there was only one item she was particularly fond of – a handbag.
  • Usha is concerned about Ruth. She rings her, but finds Ruth distant and unwilling to discuss matters. She thinks Elizabeth might know more, and will chat to her. When she meets Lilian at the Bull, Usha admires her new handbag; Lilian has brought it in to show it off to Jolene, whom she had to fight for it at the 60s sale.
  • Ed gets a good response to his field walk, and enjoys teasing Jazzer about his new love interest. Jazzer is greatly enjoying life as a milkman, though it’s not the semi-skimmed which holds the greatest appeal. The walkers find plenty of sharp objects, and quite a few coins, which Ed offers to Alan for a drug re-hab charity. Delighted to see Ed so positive, Alan rejects Ed’s half-joking suggestion that Oliver has asked him to keep a fatherly eye on Ed. Don’t worry, says Ed; I’ve got a great job, a great family and great friends. People are proud of me now and I won’t blow it this time.
  • Usha tracks Elizabeth down, and agrees to give the rustic crafts another go at the Lower Loxley Apple Day. Then she raises the subject of Ruth, and finds Lizzie dismissive; Sophie is just a flirt, and there’s nothing in it, she says. Ruth has nothing to worry about.
  • Matt and Lilian return from lunch at a smart new French restaurant and call at the Bull, where this time Elizabeth admires the bag. But when Jennifer sets eyes on it, she’s furious. Lilian reminds her that they first fought over it 40 years ago, when both of them saw it in Underwoods’ sale. On that occasion, Jennifer said ‘Finders keepers.’ Now Lilian is doing exactly the same.
  • The ‘girls’ spot a miserable David sitting on his own at the Bull. Well, snipes Lilian, I’m not the only one with a sulky sibling.
