• Shula is canvassing for sponsorship support for the bellringing. Lily will be part of it. She’s finally worn Elizabeth down. Shula is running a course on relationships with horses. Seems very popular with women of a certain age which amuses David.
• Shula thanks Lilian for writing a reference for Darrell and asks if she might be able to rent a flat to him. Lilian says hers are unaffordable but Shula asks if she will have a chat with him about some options.
• David is spending more time in the office and is planning to buy Brian a drink for his birthday. Brian is being so vain – he is only putting up cards that don’t have the age on it, even the one from Sepo.
• Lilian does have a chat with Darrell but he seems very vague. He doesn’t know anything about his housing benefit. And he suddenly mentions Fawcett Magna again and his job with Paul. Lilian tries to make him focus on Borchester but he just isn’t listening.
• David tells Ruth his brilliant idea for their 25th anniversary is a weekend in Budapest …
• Lilian tells Shula she’s thought about renting to Darrell but after careful thought, she says no. They’ve never rented to people on housing benefit and she doesn’t want to set a precedent.
