Lynda can’t wait to tell Ambridge her news. Hayley can’t wait to tell Ambridge her news.
Radio Times: Emma learns that three’s a crowd.
Characters: Ed, Emma, Hayley, Kathy, Lynda, Mike, Roy- Lynda is on a high, having had last-minute assignment from Borchester Life the previous evening. She tries to tell Kathy all about it, but Kathy is distracted and frankly not interested. Lynda says there will be no Christmas production this year, because of the Village Hall flood, and jumping in with both her oversized feet, refers to Kathy’s role in A Christmas Carol – the last thing Kathy wants to be reminded of. Too late, Lynda senses her gaffe.
- Roy is Lynda’s next victim. He, too, is somewhat underwhelmed by Lynda’s blow-by-blow account of the Gospel Choir she has reviewed.
- By lunch-time, Kathy is really low, All Hayley’s attempts at conversation fail, and Kathy doesn’t eat any of her lunch
- Victim number 3 is Mike. Lynda regales him with another lyrical description, but the ever-resourceful Mike brings it to an end by offering to take Lynda’s lamp-less bike back on the van.
- Fallon is playing a gig at the Tuns, and Ed has come to support her. Emma is there, waiting for Hayley, and is upset to see the couple, though Fallon does her best to be friendly.
- Hayley is late setting out, because Roy is late home. Just as she is leaving, Emma rings to say she’s tired and is going home. Hayley looks forward to watching the news with Mike – and to telling everyone about the baby.
