Lynda comes close to giving up but the panto cast rally round.

Radio Times: The campaigning starts for David.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • There’s so much to do at Brookfield with David still sick, Ruth is grateful for a helping hand from Jill; she would do more but there is a rehearsal this evening.
  • Lynda is putting the cast under pressure by insisting on no scripts; Fallon and Mike object – they still need theirs. Where is Chris, the prompter – outside with Alice apparently. When a piece of scenery falls with a bang, Lynda storms off.
  • David is keen to help Ruth but only succeeds in getting in her way. He has been thinking about letting his name go forward for the NFU but it’s a big commitment. If he says he is too busy why should anyone else stand? It would mean more work for Ruth.
  • Jill finds a sobbing Lynda in the loo; she thinks she can’t do it any more and is ready to call off the panto. Fallon comes in on the conversation and joins Jill in assuring Lynda that it will be OK.
  • As Ruth dashes out to collect Pip, she gives her agreement to David standing for the union; they must all do their bit.
  • Fallon and Mike have been round the cast and they have agreed to an all-day rehearsal on Sunday; Jill is sure that the WI can be persuaded to do lunch. Lynda’s spirits are lifted and Mike promises it will be the best Ambridge panto ever.
