Radio Times: Lynda initiates a fightback, and David is feeling his age
Characters: Brian, David, Emma, Fallon, Jennifer, Lynda, Robert- Lynda and Robert spot the interview where Eddie is quoted about special menus and different events. When Emma denies all knowledge about the expansion of the Grange Farm B & B, Lynda decides to devise a scheme to expose Eddie’s pretensions.
- Jennifer tries to talk about the difficulties of the Bridge Farm land deal but Brian can’t understand why there should be any objections. Jennifer tries to tell Brian that appointing David as the legal representative for Ruairi is going to cause trouble but, again, Brian won’t listen.
- Fallon wants to talk about dream houses but Emma is very discouraging. Fallon will never be able to afford any of the homes she is looking at on the internet. Emma asks Fallon why not consider one of the affordable homes Justin Elliott is building? Fallon points out that he doesn’t even have planning permission yet and she doesn’t want to wait that long. Emma wants to go easy with the fete this year although Fallon wants to top last year. Lynda comes back into the cafe and Emma has seen the article in The Echo. The name Harriet Vane comes up and Emma complains that she is a nuisance with all her questions but she never comes to stay. Lynda struggles to remain noncommittal. Fallon brings up the meeting about the fete with Lynda but she is noncommittal.
- David and Brian have a pint in The Bull. David complains about his day and the resultant aches and pains. Brian tries to extend sympathy and change the subject but David seems capable of talking only about his long work day and how he is getting fed up. Brian falls silent.
- At the meeting for the fete, Lynda points out how the organisation is far behind where it should be. Everyone seems to want Lynda to take over. She has much already on her plate but no one else is capable.
- Jennifer meets up with David and Brian but David announces he hates to be a party pooper but he must leave early due to his bad back. When Jennifer asks about David as the legal representative, Brian tells her he didn’t ask David after all. Brian thinks that Alice may have a point. David is really showing his age. Jennifer is exasperated; Brian promised Adam he would have all this sorted out by Adam’s return but now nothing is done.
