Lynda is in editorial mode. Darrell is in panic mode.

Radio Times: There’s a welcome arrival at The Stables, and Lynda thinks she knows best.

  • Off to pick Daniel up from the airport, Shula calls in at the shop, where she is treated to some wonderful condescension from Lynda. Since Daniel has failed to secure an internship, perhaps he would like to call at Ambridge Hall to see Scruff.
  • Showing masterly patience, Alistair tries to get Darrell to make a decision about the route he intends to follow to secure some housing. Darrell seems totally confused and unable to make any kind of decision, so Alistair makes a start by helping Darrell to print out previous bank statements. He thinks Lilian will give him a landlord’s reference, and he will take Darrell to see the housing officer. With mounting panic in his voice, Darrell asks Alistair to attend the interview with him, in case he fails to understand what is being said.
  • Lynda gives Emma some help with typing up the cook book, but Emma is not happy when Lynda ‘edits’ some of the recipes and attempts to give the book a grandiose title. Lynda patronisingly reminds Emma that this is only what any self-respecting book editor would do. Emma admits that life with Ed is hard at present. He had an altercation with a dog owner earlier and took his anger out on Emma and the children. But Emma is apparently saving hard for Poppy’s Christening, and greatly looking forward to it – to show off the new dress that Keira will be wearing.
  • As they near Ambridge, Shula has to tell Daniel about Darrell, but he already knows. Jamie messaged him. It doesn’t matter; Darrell has travelled a lot, so they can talk about that – and it will not be for ever, will it?
