  • Ed has passed his spraying course and Clarrie is proud of him. Alf is still staying with the Grundys, getting his feet under the table. He even offers to accompany Clarrie to church on Good Friday.
  • Lynda is getting worked up about where is the right spot for her garden centrepiece; then there is the font to choose, oh the worry, the stress. She is not at all pleased to hear that Bert is opening his garden on the same day as hers.
  • Helen has had a lift to Bridge Farm. Kirsty sees her arrive and asks if she has received her calls but Helen is evasive. Later Kirsty tries again and tells Helen about the Women’s Helpline she called. Helen is cross that Kirsty betrayed her confidence; she is adamant that things between her and Rob are alright and she refuses to take from Kirsty the Helpline number. Go away!
  • The wood burner Eddie has bought on the cheap for the shepherd’s hut is smoking the place out. Eddie feels that Lynda is the bane his life.
  • Brian bumps into Ed and congratulates him on passing the course; he has booked Ed on a manufacturer’s course for the sprayer they use at Home Farm. Ed is certainly up for that.
  • At Grange Farm, George’s school project requires him to measure everyday things, like a £10 note. Clarrie has a couple in her purse; she remembers remarking about it to Uncle Alf. But no, when she finds her purse it is empty. When George reports that it was Uncle Alf who had hung her bag on the door Clarrie puts two and two together and makes £20.
