  • Never one to do anything by half, Kenton is marking out the Village Green for the Veg. Olympics having got brother Dave to mow it first. Why is David at a loose end? Sore point! Adam is too busy with his strawberries to start combining. Elsewhere on the Green, Lynda is trying to teach maypole dancing to the children; it is not going well.
  • At Grange Farm a cow has been calving for three hours. No sooner has Oliver called David for help than Joe arrives, confident that he can sort it out. And he can. By the time David arrives there is a fine heifer calf on display.
  • Adam is looking for Mike, hoping to recruit him as a strawberry picker for his big order. Kenton promises to pass on the message but also tells Adam that David was looking for him; he seems disinterested.
  • Back at Grange Farm Joe, suitably fortified with Oliver’s best malt, makes an emotional speech to the new calf about how much is depending on it.
