  • Matt has a sleepless night and Lilian is amazed he goes for a walk at 5.30 in the morning. When he gets back he has decided a holiday is the thing to sort Lilian out and demands Brenda holds the fort.
  • Jazzer is surprised to hear there is a fete committee meeting to discuss the Big Idea. He’d already given Lynda his Big Idea after the fete last year.
  • Lynda is rather startled when Jazzer turns up at the meeting and announces his idea of a Highland Games. Lynda counters with a Regency Fayre to mark Jane Austen’s bi-centenary and is horrified to find that everyone agrees with Jazzer.
  • Lilian sounds very unsure about Matt’s holiday plans and tries to make up reasons why she can’t go. Matt even suggests it will be because she is worried about Peggy and Lilian rushes to agree. She is even more horrified when he says it is for a fortnight. But she seems to cheer up when Istanbul is mentioned.
