Matt gives Jolene a way out: a plan to close The Bull and redevelop it for residential purposes.
Radio Times: Ruth has a busy day, and Matt makes a proposition.
Characters: Bert, David, Harry, Jill, Jolene, Matt, Ruth- Delicious! Jill has brought lunch for Ruth, with plenty left for the rest of the family later. Ruth was so tired that she overslept today; David got up to start milking and they finished it off together – just like the old days. Thanks to Kenton they have bought a car for Pip but will not take delivery until the big day.
- Jolene is interested to hear that Harry is going on a double date with Jazzer; no doubt Fallon would be even more interested. Matt calls and wants a quiet word with Jolene. Jolene admits that business is slack, so Matt outlines his plan. If and when Jolene thinks that the pub has come to the end of its life, he would give her a good price and develop it into apartments with some cottages in the car park. Wow! She will think about it – meanwhile, not a word.
- Ruth and Bert have got all the lambing pens ready and Bert assures Ruth that he will be available in the daytime to help. Jill returns with news that Lewis is ill with bronchitis. David returns with news that the meeting with Graham Ryder went well; he just has one more thing to do: contact a prospective buyer for the bull General Custard.
- Returning to The Bull, Harry finds Jolene rather pre-occupied. She confesses that the January takings are not a pretty sight and though Harry encourages her to be positive, it seems that Jolene is giving serious thought to Matt’s proposition.
