Matt will step down as Borchester Land chairman, but insists on staying on the board.

Radio Times: Lynda grinds for victory at Glebe Cottage.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Lynda’s arriving soon to help Jill with a dummy bread baking run for Trafalgar Square; Jill would prefer Phil leaves first. Lynda arrives with her mortar and pestle for grinding the grain into flour. Phil, still there, thinks it’ll take the allotted hour just to do that. After twenty minutes the ladies realise Phil was right and switch to grinding a few grains before adding them to local ground flour. The soda bread is ready just inside the hour. Lynda wants another test run, this time with a camping stove in the garden.
  • The Borchester Land meeting is about to get under way. Brian tries to warn Matt but Matt’s not going to fall on his sword. The agenda is discarded when Annabelle brings up the main issue, Matt’s untenable position. She says if Matt doesn’t resign she’ll call for a vote of no confidence. Chalkman is to be voted off the board in his absence. She’s even prepared a resignation letter. Matt says he’s not going; he’s the major shareholder and he’s won’t let whatever yes-men the board drags in mess around with his investment. Annabelle goes to call a vote of no confidence when Matt interrupts; he’ll resign as chairman, but he’s staying on the board.
