  • David’s consultation with the solicitor successfully over, it’s time for some serious shopping with Ruth.
  • Caught red-handed! Jolene has been buying milk from the shop and is spotted by milkman Mike. She has a good excuse – Lilian! Mike expresses some sympathy for Lilian; Jolene suggests that he should invite her to stay at Willow Farm. To cap it all, they meet Jennifer who announces that Lilian is not to come to dinner: Jennifer is too tired.
  • The shopping trip is going well: David is exhibiting the patience of a saint and Ruth has found a lovely outfit – but when shall she have an excuse to wear it. Tonight! David has booked a restaurant and they are going out to dinner.
  • Brenda explains to her dad her objections to the plan to split the house. A room is not the same as her own room. Roy is getting a big advantage and the fact that he has a wife and family cuts little ice. Finally, she feels that altering the house will break the link with mum. Mike promises do nothing until they have all had chance to think and talk about it.
  • Ruth has really enjoyed her late Valentine celebration. She is really relaxed and happy and they both declare their love for one another.
  • Mike explains his problem to Jolene. Why is it so complicated? Mike decides to put off talking to Roy until after the weekend; he needs time to think about a compromise. Procrastinating, Jolene calls it. Mike suggests she takes her own advice: she wants to know when Lilian is leaving, then go ahead and ask her.
