Mike’s recruitment goes badly. Jazzer warns Emma to stay away from Ed.

Radio Times: Jazzer lays down the law for Emma.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • At last! Mike catches up with the elusive Neil, only to be told that he is still weighing up his options about which tug o’ war team to join. Mike’s offer of a pint, two if they win, doesn’t seem to cut it.
  • Jazzer is cutting it fine: he arrives at the shop, desperate for ciggies, just as Susan and Emma are locking up. Emma is desperate for news of Ed but Jazzer is saying nothing.
  • Having finished his last theory exam, Christopher retired to the pub and completely forgot bell-ringing practice. He had better remember that he is helping his mum on her Transition Village stall at the fête, though with a night of partying ahead, he may not be much use to her. The swap club gossip is that Lynda’s “proof” about Joe feeding oats to Bartleby is far from conclusive.
  • Mike is disappointed to find that Jazzer has defected to the Kenton’s Cavaliers: Jazzer explains that he is a mercenary, free to sell his services to the highest bidder.
  • Jazzer seizes the opportunity of a quiet word with Emma and warns her to stay away from Ed. He speaks as Ed’s best friend, the one who will pick up the pieces – again. Emma wants to put the past behind her and pleads for a second chance; sooner or later she will talk to Ed, just the two of them, so Jazzer had better keep out of it.
  • It’s decision time and, much to Mike’s chagrin, Neil resorts to the toss of a coin. Mike’s Roundheads will just have to win without him.
