Nic has her own views on family holidays. Brian has his own views on family holidays.
Radio Times: Will puts the past behind him.
Characters: Adam, Brian, Emma, Jennifer, Nic, William- Will has a surprise for Nic; he’s going to take them all to Great Yarmouth for a few days holiday. Nic is delighted until she learns that George will be coming too.
- Brian walks the farm and encounters Adam. He mentions the fact that he’s spotted some mildew on the wheat, but Adam is too quick for Brian; he’s already sprayed it. Brian suddenly feels surplus to requirements.
- Will asks Emma if it will be all right to take George on holiday. Emma isn’t sure; she’s still worried about what Ed told her. Will tells her that George was fine yesterday, but when he mentions that he wasn’t there most of the time, Emma isn’t pleased.
- Jennifer is thinking about holidays, too, but on a rather grander scale. She wants to take Ruairidh to the Caribbean. Brian’s not so keen, and neither is he keen on Jennifer’s suggestion of a day out with Ruairidh, Phoebe, Alice and Amy. Suddenly his work with Borchester Land assumes major importance. When Adam suggests the local Otter Sanctuary, Brian is even less enthusiastic.
- Nic is busy doing a big wash in preparation for the holiday. She hopes Rosie will baby-sit so she and Will can go out together. When Will says he spoke to Emma about taking George, Nic is thrown off-balance; she was sure Emma wouldn’t want George to go. It becomes clear – though not to Will – that Nic doesn’t want George to go, either.
