Pat and Tom hope to see more of Henry following Ursula’s departure.

Radio Times: It is feeling brighter at Bridge Farm, and it is time to decide the theme of the fete.

  • Susan is filling Pat in on Alice’s interview status before deftly switching the conversation to Jack, Helen and the fact that Ursula almost bought up the shop yesterday to stock Blossom Hill Cottage before she leaves. Realising this is news to Pat, Susan does hope she has not spoken out of turn, while Pat’s mind works overtime, quickly calling Tom over to tell him. With Rob not fully functional, this may mean he cannot cope alone with Henry so Pat sees a chance for increased contact, but receives disappointing news when she phones Maggie, as the terms of the court order cannot be varied. The only other way would be to approach Rob directly. Reluctant though she would be to do so, Pat will do it. He may even be glad of a break after a few days home alone with Henry.
  • A trap is being laid for Harrison to entice him into the cricket captaincy. Lynda is rallying the troops for the fete committee meeting this evening; they are less than enthusiastic, especially given that Lynda appears to have already organised so much behind the scenes. Lynda’s idea for a ‘resurgam’ theme is rejected by the majority and a village carnival is suggested instead. After all, this will chime with the forthcoming Olympics in Rio, famed for its carnivals. All the traditional elements could sit alongside a sports theme and some Brazilian street food. There is excitement for this among the ranks, but Lynda has yet to pass judgement.
  • Tom needs a favour from Adam to cut the winter wheat. Tom’s overlooked booking in the usual staff and now he is in a fix. Adam agrees straight away much to a grateful Tom’s relief. They can both spare half an hour and share a beer. Tom appreciates being able to bounce some ideas around with Adam. He misses not having his sounding board in Helen.
