Peggy is determined to progress her plan to help Elona and herself too.
Radio Times: Peggy is determined to make her point. Meanwhile, Brenda is preoccupied.
Characters: Brenda, David, Lilian, Peggy, Ruth, Tom- Tom is engrossed in footage of pig football but Brenda is preoccupied with something else. Tom has had little success getting customers to take his newly rebranded sausages. One bright spot is a late opportunity to take part in a local food fair, at a bargain price – must be a cancellation.
- The Brookfield barn is not yet in a state for a Harvest Supper. There is rather a lot of stuff to clear. It will probably take all morning tomorrow – but Pip’s text reveals that, despite her promise to help, she will be away overnight and hence probably not back in time to help.
- Lilian has brought Peggy home; she admits that the regular visits of James and Leonie in search of book material are just a tad tiresome. Peggy finds it a good opportunity to talk to her about letting No 3 The Green to Elona. In confidence, she explains why Elona turned it down. Lilian is eventually persuaded – Peggy is a persuasive woman – that it would be so helpful to herself that Lilian should offer it again to Elona and Daryl; Lilian above all people should appreciate that, even after a spell in prison, Daryl should be given a chance.
- Brenda eventually comes clean about what is upsetting her – the irritation of having to speak to James so often, when he rings Lilian about his ridiculous book. What did she see in him?
