Phoebe’s big night ends abruptly, as do Kate’s hopes for the backing of her business plan. The Fairbrothers’ arrival unsettles Jill, but there’s hope for Brian in the form of Debbie.

Radio Times: It’s an important night for Phoebe, and will Brian support Kate?

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Brian mistakes Tai Chi for Chai (tea) after observing Lilian and Kate conducting an outdoor session. Jennifer is attempting to explain, when Kate picks her moment to pitch her holistic therapy centre to them. She produces the business plan, which Brian picks holes in, dismissing it as another of Kate’s fantasies. Lilian’s input to the plan proves a disadvantage and Kate leaves in tears. Jennifer and Brian are of one mind on the project and will neither support it nor stump up the cash.
  • Phoebe and Alex are putting in place their final plans for the party – and beyond… He arrives with flowers for Jennifer to thank her for offering their home for the evening. Brian and Jennifer prepare to leave, with Brian in better humour following a call with Debbie. She has made plans to visit and Brian is hopeful that he’ll have someone on his side to neutralise some of Adam’s ideas.
  • Jill and Peggy anticipate the forthcoming flower and produce show and also how Peggy’s new lodger is settling in. There are still problems in Jill’s family with the rift between Kenton and David and the arrival of the Fairbrothers has unsettled Jill due to the history with Robin Fairbrother and Elizabeth, but in particular, Grace, from whom Jill feels she can’t get away. There’s better news about Peggy’s family, with Tony’s improving health, retirement and handing the business over to Tom and Helen.
  • Knowing the party will be over, Kate calls Phoebe for a chat. Receiving no answer from her phone, she decides to go over there. She catches Phoebe and Alex in the act and orders him to get dressed and leave.
