Pip can’t find a way to make her peace with David. Eddie declares war on David.

Radio Times: The Grundys declare war and is it confession time for Pip?

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Elizabeth rings Pip. Lorna told her that Pip won’t be coming to work until after her exams, and that she was upset yesterday. Pip’s afraid she’ll get the sack, but Elizabeth is quick to reassure her, and tries hard to persuade Pip to tell her parents about the exam mix-up. Pip, sounding increasingly like a small child, says she can’t, and in any case they’re too busy.
  • Joe calls on David to offer a stall for the Farm Open Day. When David curtly refuses to let them make a profit at his expense, Joe says he never thought he’d see the day when an Archer charged a Grundy for helping him turn a profit. He’ll take his wares elsewhere.
  • Elizabeth calls at Brookfield and again tries to make Pip see that telling her parents the truth is the best way. Pip still thinks David will blame Jude, but eventually agrees that it would be a relief to tell them.
  • Joe tells Eddie about David’s attitude, so Eddie decides they’ll have their own Farm Sunday. Clarrie flatly refuses, knowing she’ll get landed with a lot of extra work. In any case they have campers booked in; Joe can’t see why they can’t pay extra to join in the Grundy fun. When Pat texts Clarrie to say she’s going to Brookfield to discuss their Open Day, Eddie declares all-out war.
  • Pip goes into the office to broach the subject of her exams. David doesn’t give her a chance, uttering endless platitudes about being proud of her and recognising how hard she’s worked. Pip just gives up and looks at the Farm Sunday website instead.
