  • Pip is off to the Cocktail Society for cheap drinks and isn’t worried about helping out at home either and refuses to go to the shop when Ruth says she has run out of food for tea (again). Ruth asks what is the matter with her but Pip just storms off.
  • Alice is fascinated by Rob’s tales of Canada. She is still sulking about not being Managing Director after being in the job for only a few months. Jennifer tries to encourage her without much success. And then later Christopher finds she has been looking at real estate in Canada and at flights to Vancouver. He’s really suspicious but she says it’s just about a holiday…… Really, there is nothing going on….
  • Jennifer notices Lilian is rather down too but Lilian says she just wants a chat. Lilian tells her about their plans to develop the paper mills. Jennifer thinks it will be far too risky and expensive. Lilian admits it will take up nearly all their working capital but Jennifer thinks it’s madness and she shouldn’t let Matt bully her into it.
  • When Ruth does get to the shop she meets Rob and he tries to be enthusiastic about their new grazing system but Ruth continues to be hostile about the new dairy. She rather ungraciously agrees he can visit to see what he thinks.
  • When Pip wakes up Ruth after her evening, Ruth demands to know what is going on. She admits she’s got a bad mark for her essay but blames it on her tutor “having it in for her”. He’s told her that she doesn’t take the course seriously. Pip just tells Ruth it’s none of her business, all she wants is to have a life.
