Radio Times: Pip urgently needs help

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • It’s early morning and Josh and Pip share thoughts on recent happenings. Josh still can’t believe how stupid he was regarding his trailer and Pip admits that her current contract milking job is as enjoyable as toothache. However, she won’t consider giving up. Josh tells her that they all have to learn from past mistakes and Pip is no exception. She can’t keep trying to pay her parents back for her errors, she must move on.
  • Rex calls for Josh at Brookfield to take him to the cricket match. Ruth’s concerned that Pip hasn’t returned from milking yet and leaves a message on her mobile. Josh complains yet again about his father’s attitude to the trailer insurance claim. Rex sides with David; it would be fraudulent to proceed. Ruth gets a call back from Pip. There’s been an accident.
  • At The Bull, Harrison congratulates Will on the Darrington profiles. With this information, they agree that they will be able to get inside the oppositions heads. Tight bowling and close fielding should frustrate them and give Ambridge half a chance. Jolene reckons that nearly all of the Darrington supporters are in the bar. Rex rushes in with news that Josh can’t play due to Pips accident. Jolene is twelveth man. Harrison reckons that she will be their secret weapon.
  • Pip tells Ruth about the accident, a kick in the face from a cow. It missed her eye by a hair’s breadth and has left her with painful bruising. However, the triage nurse reckons that there are no obvious signs of a serious head injury. Ruth’s furious about the farmer’s apparent lack of care. Josh has gone to rescue her car and Ruth will tell Elizabeth that Pip will be staying at Brookfield for tonight, at least. Back at the match, Harrison is run out, 15 runs short of his century. Will’s in next. Up go the cheers. In A&E, Ruth is getting annoyed about Pip’s farmer’s lack of care, he should have warned her of kickers. She threatens to phone him and give him a piece of her mind. Pip can take no more and dissolves into tears, “Please don’t make it worse mum.”
  • Chris Mills having been dropped by Roy, Darrington only needs 60 runs with six wickets remaining. Harrison brings Anisha on to bowl. Jolene’s at long on to mop up the boundaries with Mills being crowded by two slips and a short leg. Anisha bowls, Mills puts it in the air and it’s Jolene’s catch. Jennifer catches up with Adam but she isn’t staying for the presentations since she is still disgruntled from her frangipane disappointment. Adam says he knows what it is like to be on the losing side; the cricket yesterday was a washout. Jennifer asks about the adoption but Adam tells her to ask Ian.
  • At Brookfield, Josh consoles Pip. She fears that she’ll be off work for some days. But some things just can’t be helped. All she can do is just get better. At The Bull, the Ambridge team are drowning their sorrows. The match went to the last over with just one wicket needed. Harrison insists that inviting women onto the team was a great move. Jolene suggests that more thought is given to the provision of women’s changing rooms for next year. Harrison agrees. After all, no women, no team!
