  • Rex and Anisha meet up, but do so very furtively; both insist that no-one must know. But far from a romantic tryst, this is serious cricket stuff. They go the nets so that Rex can instruct Anisha in the finer points of the game and she can show him that she knows more about it than he does.
  • Fallon calls to show Jennifer the menus for Friday, complete with drawings of the pastry (of which there appears to be an inordinate amount.) Jennifer’s diction becomes ever more plummy as she condescends to the lower orders, but even she is impressed when Fallon talks her through the symbolism of each course, though whether Jennifer’s knowledge of the Classics is all she pretends is a moot question. Brian calls in and enjoys sampling Fallon’s canapes. Jennifer needs one piece of reassurance; the Mayor of Felpersham is allergic to broccoli so must not come near the smallest sprig, and Fallon must ensure that there is no cross-contamination.
  • After nets, the cricketing duo have a drink and again insist that no-one must know what they have been up to. Anisha tells Rex about plans to gain more clients at the practice and to get themselves known. Rex has an idea- if Anisha was to put herself forward for the cricket team everyone would know her. Harrison Burns might take another look at mixed teams if he knew what Anisha’s cricketing lineage was.
  • Having sampled all Fallon’s offerings, Brian puts a suggestion to Jennifer. Why not invite Lilian to the party? If she is banned, there might be gossip since she is Justin’s social secretary and lives at Home Farm. Jennifer is not convinced; after all, the Mayor of Felpersham will be there, despite the possibility of broccoli contamination. Eventually she agrees to go and speak to Lilian, who had better behave herself.
